Installs for the current user, so it needs no administrator rights. Like the Mac build it is a window onto this site rather than a separate program — small, and never out of date. It uses the WebView2 runtime, which ships with Windows 11 and current Windows 10.

Windows may warn that the publisher is unknown: the installer is not signed with a Windows code-signing certificate, which is a separate purchase from the Apple one. Choose More info then Run anyway, or use the browser install below, which carries no warning at all.

Or install from the browser — any desktop

Open the site in Chrome or Edge and choose Install AlfaCat — the icon at the right of the address bar, or the browser menu. You get a real window with its own taskbar icon, no browser chrome, and what you have already opened keeps working offline. This works on Windows, macOS and Linux, and needs no download at all. Safari has no such command, which is why the .dmg exists.
